4th Hillingdon Boy's Brigade

On Sunday 22nd June 2025 the 4th Hillingdon Boys Brigade Company held their BB on Sunday Service at Hayes End Methodist Church starting at 11.00a.m.

The theme of the service was Apps which had been organised and planned out by Andrew Kingston. All the Company members were involved throughout the service; including becoming door stewards to welcome people as they arrived for Church. The service was led by Michael Kingston who had travelled up from Downton near Fordingbridge Dorset.
The service began and the congregation was asked to write on their paper an APP (Tool) they thought would help them in their daily lives. The suggestions were collected by the Brigade Members and stuck to the Parachute which had been draped over the Gym Box, with a prayer being said relating to the different Apps (Tools) that had been suggested.  One part of the service involved collective worship followed by the Anchor Boys part taking in a game called "Switch", which they really enjoyed. For their part the Juniors involved the congregation into a paper folding activity led by Mr John Chamberlain. BB members handed out A4 sizes of paper to everyone in the congregation with Mr Chamberlain narrating a story of a "Man Who Had Lots Of Money" whilst simultaneously demonstrating how the paper was to be folded into a House, Boat, Plane and Rocket.  Finally ending up with a Cross when the paper was unfolded. Everybody who had managed to make the cross at the end held them up to show each other.
This activity was followed by Michael Kingston's sermon based on Apps. Describing the many Apps that people use in their daily lives with the help of visual aids put up on the screen.  He concluded that the two most important Apps that people need in their lives is "The Bible app" and "The Jesus app".
Next came the BB Presentations. The Anchor Boys, Juniors and Seniors all received prizes from our Guests of Honour: Mr Joe Joslin, and Mrs Angela Lount.  The service also praised the Junior Boys who were promoted up into the Seniors. There were prayers for the Global Community and a final song to bring the service to a close.  John Rout made a special announcement that he had completed 50years with the Boys Brigade and brought a cake to mark the occasion and share with everyone at refreshments.  To their delight, all BB boys attending the service got pizza and drinks, which went down a treat.
All in all it was a brilliant service and a wonderful Sunday, well received by all BB Members involved.  A big thank you goes to everyone who helped and especially the BB Boys, who enthusiastically participated in the whole service.

My fellow staff and I feel very proud of our BB Company.

Thank you and enjoy the summer.
